The story of a girl who was diagnosed with a serious illness.
I just want people to know how much we all loved her and still miss her. I want others to realize how short life can really be and to not take it for granted because every day is a gift.
I think organizations such as the Cancer Society could use my story as an outreach to communities and people for their cause. In middle school we did a Make a Difference project and helping Krystal’s family was what I decided to do. I think my teacher, Mrs. Edwards, who teaches the class would also like to have the video as a tool to show her class on what can be done. Cancer can be a very emotional and tough thing to talk about so I also think organizations such as ones that have support groups for people who have lost loved ones to caner would be able to use it as an introduction or even a topic starter.
I can see many applications for new media storytelling to be used in the field of education. I want to teach kindergarten and I think it would be a great thing to send home with kids and their parents at the end of the year. They would be able to look back on it forever as the story of what their 1st year in school was like. One of my passions is working with at risk youth. I think having the kids make one would get them more involved and give them more of a way to be able to open up. I also love working with children that have special needs. I think a video like this could be used to show parents and supervisors their progress throughout a year and I also think the center I work for would befit in making one to show parents when they are signing up.
