Many memorable moments have happened in my life. However, my dad leaving our family during my youth probably was the most devastating. I didn’t know the details back then but I knew the results. To me, Dodgers Stadium was my dad; it was something I was proud of.
If you are blessed to have kids, they are gifts from God. Promises and commitments should not be taken lightly. Kids are resilient for the most part, but some scars remain. Kids remember.
Sharing this story with others can address perhaps children who have experienced “broken” families. They can relate to the “positives” of what the absentee-parent left them.
Showing them the inclusion aspect that they share with many can relieve many sour and hurt feelings. Unfortunately, single-parent families are a large percentage in our society.
